Natural Moisturizers

HONEY- Honey is humectant that locks in moisture and keeps dry skin hydrated. The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties kill acne causing bacteria from oily areas. I prefer Manuka honey to treat skin. Simply take a teaspoon of Manuka or regular honey and massage your face with it for few minutes.

Wash it off with lukewarm water after 15-20 minutes for baby soft skin.

GLYCERIN- Like honey, glycerin also locks in moisture and hydrates skin though it doesn’t have as many nutrients as honey but when mixed with rose water it makes for an amazing moisturizer+toner that soothes and moisturizes both oily and dry skin without clogging pores.

Mix One part glycerin with four parts rose water. Apply on face and you can leave this mixture overnight for best results. Add few drops of lemon juice if you have acne prone skin.

AVOCADO- Avocado is the most nutritious fruit on earth, it contains more than 20 essential nutrients. The fatty acids moisturize dry skin. The nutrients nourish and soothe oily skin. Mash a ripe avocado, apply and leave on face for 30 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water.

BANANA- the potassium, calcium and vitamins in banana replenish skin and fatty acids provide moisture. Mash and smear an over ripe banana on your skin for 30 minutes, add few drops of honey for additional benefits.

BASE OILS - ARGAN OIL, JOJOBA OIL, SWEET ALMOND OIL, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE AND cOCONUT OIL. The simplest way to nourish oily skin is by massaging 3-4 drops of any of the base oils for 5-10 minutes. You can let the oil remain overnight or wipe it off with a warm towel after an hour. I prefer sweet almond oil as it contains vitamin E that nourishes skin without leaving skin greasy.

If you find these oils too heavy for your skin, add few drops of lemon juice, cooled down green tea or aloe Vera gel.

ESSENTIAL OILS - Grape fruit, lavender, Rose, German chamomile, Lemon, Peppermint, Coriander, lemon grass and rosemary. Essential oils for acne prone skin– Mint oil, Tea tree oil, neem oil, basil oil.

WARNING- essential oils are highly concentrated oils and can irritate sensitive skin, use only a drop or two in the entire mixture. They should always be diluted with lighter ingredients.
